Our Story

A Bridge Between Two Worlds

From the Mountains to Your Table

Jungle & Sun was founded by Juan Carlos, a Colombian-Irish coffee enthusiast who grew up between two worlds. Raised in the highlands of Huila, Colombia, and later based in Ireland, he watched global coffee markets and saw something that troubled him: incredible beans being sold through layers of middlemen, losing both their story and their value along the way.

In 2022, Juan decided to close that gap. He returned to Colombia to connect directly with the farmers he knew—families who had been growing coffee for generations but were often paid a pittance for their work. The vision was simple: bring the very best Colombian coffee to Ireland, cut out the brokers, and ensure farmers were fairly compensated.

Jungle & Sun was born.

What We Stand For

Direct Farmer Relationships

We work with small-scale producers in Huila, paying them directly and fairly. No brokers, no confusion. We know the families growing our coffee and we honor their work.

Ethical Sourcing

Fair prices. Sustainable practices rewarded. We invest in the communities where our coffee grows—because good coffee comes from places where people thrive.

Quality Over Volume

We're small by design. Every bag is roasted with care, not churned out by machines. This is slow coffee for people who notice the difference.

Transparency

We tell the whole story: where the beans come from, who grew them, how they're roasted. You deserve to know what you're drinking and why it matters.

Environmental Care

Coffee farming in Colombia is fragile. We support shade-grown practices, water conservation, and farmers investing in the land for generations to come.

Community First

Whether it's the farmers in Huila or the coffee lovers in Dublin, we build relationships over transactions. Community is everything.

Juan Carlos

Meet Juan Carlos

Juan Carlos grew up in the coffee-producing regions of Colombia but spent much of his adulthood in Ireland, where he built a career and a life. But the mountains called back, and so did a question: "Why is Colombian coffee treated as a commodity when it's clearly an art?"

He started visiting farms in Huila, talking to farmers, learning their stories, and understanding their struggles. The data shocked him: world-class coffee was often sold for a fraction of its real value, while exporters and traders took most of the margin.

That's when Jungle & Sun crystallized in his mind: a company that would respect the craft, honor the farmers, and bring authentic Colombian coffee directly to people who genuinely care about what they drink.

Today, Juan manages sourcing, roasting, and every interaction with the Jungle & Sun community. He's based between Huila and Dublin, ensuring both sides of the relationship stay strong.

Sabor de Montaña — Our Signature Coffee

The Region: Huila

Located in southwestern Colombia, Huila is one of the world's premier coffee regions. Volcanic soil, perfect altitude (1,400–1,800m), and microclimates create beans that punch above their weight.

The Farmers

Small-scale producers who've been growing coffee for generations. They practice sustainable methods, know their land intimately, and produce some of the cleanest, most flavorful beans in Colombia.

The Grade: Excelso

A premium classification. Excelso beans are larger and denser, signaling quality. They're expensive to produce but beloved by serious coffee people.

The Roast

Medium roast, roasted in small batches. We let the bean's natural sweetness shine without the bitterness that over-roasting brings. Every bag is roasted to order for maximum freshness.

Why Ireland?

Juan Carlos chose to base Jungle & Sun in Ireland because Ireland is his home—and because Ireland deserves better coffee.

Ireland has a growing specialty coffee culture. Dublin has some of the world's best cafés. Towns across the country are waking up to what quality coffee can be. But the mainstream still lags: supermarket shelves are stocked with mediocre, stale, mass-market beans.

Jungle & Sun exists to change that story. We're a small team delivering directly—from our roastery to your cup, as fresh as possible. We're proud to be Irish-based, bringing world-class Colombian coffee to people who appreciate it.

"Every cup of Jungle & Sun is a connection—between mountains and cities, between farmers and coffee lovers, between tradition and possibility. That's what we're here for."
